Spinal Decompression Overview:

Spinal Decompression was created by a specialized team of engineers to meet the needs of today’s patients, offering physicians the clinical outcomes they strive for, and patients the quality of life they deserve. With our focus on innovation, we are committed to utilizing the latest cutting-edge technology to improve the quality of life for those suffering from herniated discs, degenerative disc disease and other spinal injuries.

Spinal decompression with the DRX9000™ is one of today’s most advanced technologies.

Lumbar decompression involves the application of distraction forces to relieve nerve compression often associated with lower back pain and sciatica. Most often, patients have been unsuccessful when using traditional methods and seek an alternative to more invasive surgical solutions.

Decompression patients receive 15 to 30 minute DRX treatments within a relaxing environment. During treatment, clients can listen to their own music on CD or watch DVD movies. Immediately following treatment, our patients receive a 15-minute muscle stimulation . Patients also gain personalized home-care coaching, with noticeable relief typically attained within just three weeks.

Lumbar decompression with the DRX9000 is a safe, FDA-cleared treatment program that has been proven successful in numerous clinical studies since its introduction in 2002. Back in Action of Torrance works with you to devise a holistic approach encompassing regular decompression, nutrition, exercise and relaxation strategies geared towards obtaining optimal results. As a result, a very high percentage of our patients find the solution successful.

At Vcare Health Services we are dedicated to improving the health and function of our patients. We do this by combining traditional chiropractic care with state-of-the-art technology to deliver an unprecedented level of service. Our results speak for themselves…
In the past, a patient suffering from disc problems usually was given pain medications, instructed to refrain from physical activities, referred for physical therapy, and when they weren’t progressing they were sent for spinal surgery. Conservative chiropractic care proved very helpful in many cases, yet there have been some cases when surgery seemed to be the only other option… until now.

Today, you don’t have to live with that pain anymore. Thanks to the concerted efforts of a team of top physicians and medical engineers, Spinal Decompression was developed to effectively treat lower back pain and sciatica resulting from herniated or deteriorated discs. Spinal Decompression not only significantly reduces back pain in many patients, but also enables the majority of patients to return to more active lifestyles.

Spinal Decompression FAQs

What machine is used for this purpose?
Our office uses Chattanooga traction tables due to their long history of research, development and state of the art equipment.

Who can benefit from Spinal Decompression Therapy?
Spinal decompression therapy is designed to unload the spine. Any back pain or neck pain caused in whole or in part by a damaged disc or arthritis may be helped by spinal decompression therapy. These conditions include herniated, protruding or bulging discs, spinal stenosis (in some cases), sciatica, arthritis or radiculopathy (pinched nerves).

Are there conditions where Spinal Decompression is not indicated?
Spinal decompression therapy is usually not recommended for pregnant women, or patients who have severe osteoporosis, severe obesity or severe nerve damage. It is not recommended for patients over 70. However, every patient is evaluated on an individual basis. Spinal surgery with instrumentation (screws and metal plates or “cages”) is also contraindicated. Surgery to the discs without fusion or fusion using bony replacement is not contraindicated.

How often do I take treatment sessions? How long does each session last?
Each session includes decompression therapy and may or may not be accompanied by adjunctive treatments ordered by Dr. Cooper. Sessions last around 20 minutes. Core strengthening exercises are often required for the best long term results. Spinal decompression is usually performed 2 or 3 times a week for 6 to 15 sessions.

What are the results of Spinal Decompression Therapy?
Over 70% of patients have significant and long lasting pain relief.

I have had spinal surgery, but continue to have pain. Can I try Spinal Decompression Therapy?
Spinal decompression therapy can help people with back pain after failed spinal surgery. It can be performed in most patients who have not been left with an unstable spine after surgery or do not have fusion with metal implants.

How can I be scheduled for Spinal Decompression Therapy?
